U-Pitot – See when your boat loses speed

Instantly visualize your shell’s dynamics through the water jet

In rowing, the shell naturally slows down and speeds up throughout the stroke. These changes are difficult to perceive from inside the boat.

With U-Pitot, a simple water jet makes these slowdowns visible instantly, allowing you to understand what slows or accelerates your boat and adjust your technique in real time.

Understand boat run at a glance

While electronic instruments often display an average speed, U-Pitot shows the shell’s natural slowdowns and accelerations in real time.

Each movement immediately affects the jet. By adjusting their stroke, the rower instantly sees what slows the shell and what improves boat run.

U-Pitot helps rowers stay focused on boat run and avoid speed losses.

Not a speedometer

U-Pitot does not measure speed in km/h, pace, or split. Unlike electronic devices such as the SpeedCoach, it does not provide numerical values but an instant visual feedback on your shell’s natural slowdowns and accelerations.

Visible while rowing

Mounted at the stern, the jet faces the rower and remains visible throughout the stroke.

The Pitot tube principle

U-Pitot uses the principle of the Pitot tube, a device that measures the dynamic pressure of a fluid.

Water enters the tube, and the pressure developed is proportional to the local fluid speed according to Bernoulli’s equation. This pressure raises the water jet, which then serves as a visual indicator of local speed changes of the shell in the water.

When the shell accelerates, the jet rises; when it slows down, the jet drops.

Important: U-Pitot does not provide speed in km/h or m/s, but an instant visual feedback on your boat’s speed changes.

Used by rowers of all levels

U-Pitot is used by rowers of all levels, from recreational to elite, and several national teams already employ it for training.
